HOW TO JOIN
Dear Fellow Single Parent:
We are pleased to extend an invitation to you to join
Parents Without Partners, Inc. (PWP), the premier, not-for-profit organization focusing on
social, educational and advocacy issues and other needs of single parents worldwide.
As a member of PWP, you will share in the opportunity to
interact with a large network of single parents who, together, face the unique challenges
and triumphs of parenting today. Whether divorced, separated, widowed or never married,
PWP provides a myriad of social and educational activities for parents and children.
We think you'll agree that PWP membership will transform
what can often be a difficult time of adjustment and child rearing into an exciting
turning point in your life. We welcome your review of the unique benefits PWP has to
offer and look forward to welcoming you and your children to the membership.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for membership in Parents
Without Partners, Inc., a person must be a legal parent of one or more sons or daughters
and be single by reason of death, divorce, legal separation or having never been married
or for other reason which may be deemed acceptable by Parents Without Partners, Inc.
Neither custody or age of child(ren) is a factor.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
As the largest single parenting
organization in the world, Parents Without Partners provides members with a variety of
unique, timely, topical and targeted membership benefits.
- Multiple opportunities for support, growth and education
- Ongoing activities for the single parent and his/her
family
- Personal development and support workshops
- Recreational activities such as camping, hiking, picnics,
bowling, swimming, etc.
- Adult social activities such as dining and dancing
ADDITIONAL MEMBER BENEFITS
You will have the opportunity to attend
the Annual International Convention of Parents Without Partners, an event jam-packed with
social and educational activities just for single parents and their children;
Access to Parents Without Partners, Inc. awards and
scholarship programs for children of PWP members;
Access to the MEMBERS ONLY section of the Parents Without
Partners, Inc.'s web site where you can freely meet other members who are facing similar
situations
Dues are $45.00 annually, which includes membership in
PWP International and local Chapter #63 and our local monthly newsletter, THE ORBIT.
ORIENTATION INFORMATION
- Each prospective member must attend a scheduled
Orientation Meeting (listed below). At orientation, the purposes and programs of PWP
are fully explained. Currently, Chapter 63 conducts two regular Orientations each
month in different locations with special orientations scheduled as necessary.
- All prospective members must bring the name and complete
mailing address of a professional reference (such as a doctor, lawyer, employer, etc.)
who is familiar with you and your family. We will contact this individual by mail to
verify your status as single parent. The reference letter, which we supply, should
be returned as soon as possible to prevent any delay in the processing of the application.
- Our annual dues are $45.00, payable at
Orientation, by money order or personal check only. We cannot accept cash.
- New members receive a temporary membership
receipt which will enable them to get involved right away.
- All members may participate in any PWP activity
regardless of location or sponsor.
- Parents are invited to attend all Family
activities.
